10/06/26 - Crystal Claire Episode 4 by Product
TW: gore, suicide, disturbing content
I've actually been following the Crystal Claire series for a while now, as I'm a very big fan of Product's work. And frankly, this latest episode is a horrifyingly good addition to the series. I believe this must be the climax of the series, and seeing as the next episode might be about Claire's fashion show, episode five must be the final episode. I'd like to make a full analysis and review of the whole series once it's done. So for now, I'll only be sharing some of my surface-level analyses of the episodes released so far.
I admit that in the first episode, I did mistakenly believe that Claire would be the big "fright" of the series. Similar to how usually, Product's work seem to feature frightening main characters like Dirty Donna and Mother. However, I'm impressed by the twist that Claire's sister, Gwen, would actually be the horror of Crystal Claire. I pity Claire very much and she really is the victim of Gwen's manipulation. I've also noticed that many of the comments keep talking about how much they want to see Gwen get her karma, and Product has been liking those comments. So chances are that Product will definitely give the audience what they want.
What I've also noticed is that most of the family featured in the series suffer from some form of "addiction," or "obsession." Donna is addicted to cigarettes, Susan is obsessed with beauty and youth, and Claire is obsessed with cleanliness and purity. From this information, I have a theory that Gwen is obsessed with vengeance, especially against her own sister. We learn that Claire had a crush on Gwen's ex, and Gwen seemed really upset by that. Even before Gwen knows that Pamela is cheating on her with Claire (or maybe she knew the entire time, who knows?), she started feeding Claire and Pamela disgusting things and breaking Claire's boundaries, seemingly in retaliation to Claire's rules.
Even so, I can't wait to learn what Gwen's "obsession" is in the following installments.
